WHO WE ARE
ABOUT SEATTLE ANIMAL WATCH
MISSION
Seattle Animal Watch is an independent research organization focused on animal welfare in the Seattle area. We collect, analyze, and publish data on shelter operations, enforcement activity, animal welfare legislation, and related policy — so that decisions affecting animals in our community are grounded in verifiable, publicly available evidence.
VISION
To make Seattle a model city for the humane treatment of animals and the prevention of cruelty and neglect.
HOW WE WORK
Our research is based on public records — annual reports, records requests under Washington State's Public Records Act, licensing databases, and government agency data. We seek out primary sources, document our methodology, and publish our findings in full. Where data is incomplete or inconsistent, we say so.
Seattle Animal Watch does not accept donations, grants, or sponsorships of any kind. We are not a 501(c)(3) and we do not solicit financial contributions. Our work is independent and self-funded. We have no financial relationships with any animal welfare organization, shelter, agency, or business we cover.
